Whangaroa is the home for the Whangaroa Sport fishing club. A number of fishing and dive operators operate out of Whangaroa harbour and nearby Piahia.
From inshore harbour fishing to off shore island fishing Whangaroa is a great place to be based for fishing adventures.

Dive the Greenpeace flagship the 'Rainbow Warrior' sunk out at the Cavalli Islands - a world class dive spot. Dive trips leave from Paihia (45 mins from Coastal Chalet) and locally at Whangaroa Harbour (5 mins from Coastal Chalet).

The four walks are:
1. The Rainbow Falls track alongside the Kerikeri River with two waterfalls. 3.75 km
2. The Wairoa track alongside the Wairoa stream with two waterfalls. 2.25 km
3. Charlie's Rock waterfall off Landing Road. 2.3 km from the Stone Store.
4. The Southside track runs through the Booths Wharapuke Reserve historic track which is a lovely wooded trail and continues upstream along the Kerikeri river with many side entrances and finishes either at Clark St. or at the Golf Club bridge. 2.5K..

Wairakau Stream Track
This track is for experienced trampers. It first climbs over a saddle to an old farm road and then descends through regenerating forest to Wairakau Stream. It ends at Lane Cove Hut. Duration 2 hr Difficulty Intermediate
St Paul's Rock Track
This track climbs up to St Paul's Rock, which stands high above Whangaroa township and provides spectacular views of the Whangaroa Harbour. It's suitable for those with moderate fitness.
Duration 30 min one way Difficulty Easy
Mahinepua Peninsula Track
The track travels the length of the peninsula, mainly along the ridgetop, giving access to the many sheltered bays and providing outstanding coastal views.
Duration 1 hr one way Difficulty Easy
Duke's Nose (Kaiaraara Rocks) Track
Take in spectacular views of Whangaroa Harbour from Duke's Nose.
Duration 45 min one way Difficulty Intermediate
